This is a vintage circa 1950s version of this famous midcentury industrial design. Appears unused, with original Chemex decal affixed. Engraved number to neck, 00.
The Fahrenheitor Water Kettle manufactured by Chemex Corp. Designed in 1949 by German born Dr. Peter Schlumbohm (1896-1962) chemist/inventor. Part of a larger collection of household products for the Chemex Corp. In a 1951 brochure for the Company it read...."A Chemist dreams in PYREX." Innovative elegance is thematic is all Schlumbohm inventions... a symbol of German Modernism and functional Bauhaus Style. Made of one single piece of Pyrex (Borosilicate glass) and cork. A part of the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art. N.Y. Dimensions: Kettle: 10 1/8 x 8 1/2 in. Stopper 6 1/2 in.
