Vintage 1970s Modernist Turquoise and White "Scavo" Murano Glass Vase by Seguso.
This exceptional vintage vase from the 1970s, attributed to the master glassmakers at Seguso is a superb example of the "Scavo" technique, which gives it the appearance of an ancient, unearthed artifact.
The vase is crafted from hand-blown Murano glass and features a beautiful, frosted texture achieved through the "Scavo" process (Italian for "excavated" or "dug up"). The surface has a gritty, matte finish with a delicate mixture of turquoise and white flecks, creating a rustic yet elegant aesthetic. The body of the vase is a classic chalice or urn shape, resting on a sturdy, rounded pedestal base.
Adding to its charm are two beautifully crafted clear glass handles on either side. These handles provide a striking contrast to the rustic texture of the vase's body, highlighting the skill and artistry of the glassblower. The contrast between the clear, smooth glass and the textured, frosted body is a defining feature of this modernist piece.
