About the Item

A beautifully aged 19th-century French terracotta jug, this piece reflects the rustic elegance of traditional Provençal pottery. Handcrafted from natural clay, the jug features a distinctive two-tone finish: the upper half is glazed in a radiant ochre yellow, a hue typical of the region and prized for its warmth and vibrancy, while the lower half remains unglazed, revealing the raw, earthy texture of the terracotta beneath. Two rounded handles frame the bulbous form, allowing for easy lifting when once used to store water, oil, or preserves. Visible wear, light chipping, and patina add authenticity and character, celebrating its utilitarian origins. This vessel is both decorative and functional, perfect as a sculptural centerpiece, rustic vase, or collectible artifact with deep-rooted charm and soul.
