Antique Bohemian Opalescent Alabaster Glass Goblet – Biedermeier Era (c. 1840–1850)
This antique goblet from the Biedermeier era is a rare and beautiful example of high-quality Bohemian glasswork. Made from milky white opalescent glass with a light blue overlay, the goblet features a six-faceted body standing on a long spreading foot. The blue layer has been expertly cut all around, from top to bottom, to reveal the white glass beneath—creating a striking contrast and sense of depth.
The white layer is richly hand-painted with colorful enamel scrolls and floral motifs, along with fine gilding details applied to both the white and blue surfaces. This careful combination of cutting, painting, and gilding makes the piece visually impressive from every angle.
A unique, museum-quality item, this goblet reflects the exceptional skill of Bohemian glassmakers during the Biedermeier period (circa 1840–1850), who were celebrated across the world for their artistic innovation and fine craftsmanship.
