About the Item
A fine metalwork vase from the time of Emperor Meiji, 1868 to 1912. This elegant Japanese Silver and Shakudo vase with multi-metal decoration of two ducks swimming among water reeds. With Meiji period marks for Jungin, .950 silver, and the swallow mark for renowned silversmith Kintaro Hattori, 1860 to 1934. Note: Shakudo is a metal alloy that has been used in Japanese art for centuries. It is composed of copper and gold, usually in the form of brass or bronze.
