About the Item

A fine metalwork vase from the time of Emperor Meiji, 1868 to 1912. This elegant Japanese Silver and Shakudo vase with multi-metal decoration of two ducks swimming among water reeds. With Meiji period marks for Jungin, .950 silver, and the swallow mark for renowned silversmith Kintaro Hattori, 1860 to 1934. Note: Shakudo is a metal alloy that has been used in Japanese art for centuries. It is composed of copper and gold, usually in the form of brass or bronze. In Japan, the term shakudo is derived from the words Shaku meaning 'to make' and 'Do' meaning 'copper'. Asian Metalware Pieces, Japanese Silver Vases And Decorative Collectibles. Total weight 245 g.
