Chinese Stamped Yunnan Pot, c. 1800

About the Item

This earthenware vessel from China's Yunnan province is distinguished by its rustic drip glaze and allover stamped pattern. Originally used for storing rice wine or other liquids, the vase has a dramatically tapered form, with bulbous shoulders that narrow towards the base and neck. The shoulders are stamped with a raised design of round medallions, each filled with a spiral motif. A dark brown glaze sheets and drips across the surface, lingering on each stamp for an irregular, wabi-sabi appearance. Additional Dimensions: Diameter of Opening: 3.75" Diameter of Base: 4.5"
