About the Item
Coppia Di Vasi Circolari In Legno Laccato color avorio e dorato con curvi manici in ferro battuto e dorato, appoggiati su di una alta base quadrata laccata in color avorio che sostiene il vaso tornito ed intagliato a costoloni e nervature.
Si tratta di vasi portapalme del periodo neoclassico, della fine XVIII secolo, arredi liturgici d’altare italiani, da centro, con la parte retrostante decorata.
La finitura è giocata sull’alternanza tra la laccatura color avorio e la doratura in oro fino a guazzo su una preparazione di bolo rosso. Sulla sommità un grande incavo circolare serviva probabilmente per alloggiare il vaso portafiori in lamiera. I due manici in ferro sono con volute nella parte superiore e con dei riccioli deliziosi in quella inferiore. Lo stato di conservazione è buono compatibilmente con la datazione che risale alla fine del 1700. Provengono dal Nord Italia.
Le portapalme sono dei vasi portafiori che venivano collocati sugli altari come decorazioni; spesso di sagoma ridotta nella profondità e non decorati nella parte posteriore perchè addossati alle pareti negli altari laterali. Diversamente per gli altari maggiori dove venivano realizzati a tutto tondo. Diversi i materiali impiegati, prevalentemente in legno o in lamine di rame o ottone variamente sbalzati o torniti in lastra, ma anche in fusione di bronzo. Le palme simbolo della vittoria del cristianesimo lasciano spazio a fiori finti realizzati in materiali vari quali tessuto, lamiera, perline. Si prestano egregiamente come decorazioni da inserire in ogni arredo e particolarmente come basi per lampada.
Lo stato di conservazione generale è buono, con segni di usura, difetti e restauri compatibili con la datazione di fine 1700. Provengono da una collezione privata.
Possono diventare due splendide basi per lampade antiche neoclassiche.
