About the Item

A finely proportioned Chinese monochrome porcelain vase, handcrafted in the 1970s, showcasing the classic Yuhuchunping or “spring bottle” form. This pear-shaped profile, with its full, rounded body and slender flaring neck, has long been associated with ceremonial vessels in traditional Chinese ceramics. The vase is finished in a striking cornflower blue glaze, layered with a delicate crystalline glaze that introduces iridescent tonal shifts—ranging from periwinkle to soft lavender—depending on the angle and light. This crystalline-glazed Chinese porcelain technique, developed through precise high-temperature firing, gives the surface a nuanced, organic depth and visual richness. This Chinese monochrome vase exhibits subtle glaze crazing throughout, likely original to the firing process and consistent with the character of crystalline ceramic finishes. The base carries an apocryphal reign mark, in keeping with the tradition of 20th-century Chinese revival wares that referenced imperial periods. In well-preserved vintage condition, the vase has no cracks, chips, or repairs—only age-appropriate surface variation that enhances its artisanal appeal. A refined collector’s piece or a striking sculptural accent in any interior. Dimensions: Height: 26 cm Diameter: 17 cm
