About the Item

This designer Murano glass vase is an iconic masterpiece by the legendary artist Dino Martens (1894–1970), created for the renowned Aureliano Toso glassworks. While unsigned, this model is widely recognized among collectors and enthusiasts and is considered one of the most remarkable works by the master, becoming an icon of mid-20th-century Italian design. The vase embodies the “pezzato” technique, invented and perfected by Martens himself, featuring vibrant glass fragments in blue, red, yellow, green, and amber embedded within a frosted glass base. This creates a dynamic and striking visual effect, showcasing Martens’ bold use of color and intricate craftsmanship. Under Dino Martens’ artistic direction, Aureliano Toso became a leading manufacturer of Murano glass, blending centuries-old glassblowing traditions with groundbreaking modern designs. This vase, measuring 17 cm in height, 11.5 cm in diameter, and weighing 1,250 grams, is hand-blown and remains in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of age. A prime example of Martens’ innovative artistry, this rare piece is not only a beautiful decorative object but also a significant part of Murano glass history.
