About the Item

Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte Murano Sommerso glass vase 1930s A large and heavy Murano sommerso glass vase. Manufactured by Seguso Vetri d'Arte circa 1930-40s. Manufactured in very thick yellow glass with gold foil inclusions in an asymetrical form. Weight 8.82 lbs (4 kg). A rare design of Flavio Poli of the 1930s which highlights every art glass collection. Very good condition with heavy traces of use on the base. Measures: Height: 9.33" (23.7 cm) Diameter: 6.89" (17.5 cm) Literature Reference: Marc Heiremans, Seguso Vetri D'Arte, Stuttgart 2014, pages 99, 110, 218 and 230 Marina Barovier, Il Vetro di Murano alle Bienali 1895-1972, Milano 1995, page 42. Seguso Vetri d'Arte was founded in 1933 by several glass masters amoung Archimede, Ernesto and Alberto Seguso. In 1934 Flavio Poli became artistic director and in 1937 partner. In the 1950s and 60s the sommerso, valva and siderale designs of Poli became very sucesssful. After the retirement of Poli in 1963 Mario Pinzoni took over the artistic direction. The company was liquidatd in 1985 and sold to Amelio Cenedese in 1990.
