Pair of Cloisonné Over Porcelain Vases, Chinese
About the Item
A pair of large 20th century Chinese vases that are a stunning example of cloisonné over porcelain. A predominantly turquoise colored background with floral accents is featured throughout and surrounds large centerpieces depicting birds in an Asian motif perched on what appear to be cherry blossoms. An intricate hand-applied cloisonné pattern is featured around the surface of each vase and demonstrates a mastery of the painstaking technique. Each vase is supported on a hand carved and gilded wood base featuring acanthus leaves, laurel wreaths and fine scrollwork. It is exceptionally rare to find such high quality cloisonné over porcelain vases of this size.
