Pol Chambost Mid-Century Art Pottery Black & Yellow Glazed Vase

About the Item

A stunning mid-century French art pottery vase in distinctive black and yellow glazes attributed to renowned French artist Pol Chambost. One of the most iconic and desired colour combinations, this wonderful freely shaped earthenware vase of small size was created in the 1950’s. The vase has a lily flower shape with a narrow round skirted base with a narrow body extending to a raised wide flower head shaped top. The base and outer body decorated in black lead oxide glazes with the inner body decorated in bright contrasting yellow glazes. The vase has an unglazed foot rim with indistinct underglaze marks to the base, probably a number. Acquired from the British Art Market. In good condition with wear associated with age and use.
