Robert Held Art Glass Bud Vase Organic Modern Green Blue Iridescent

About the Item

Vintage bud vase with green-blue iridescent freeform design on clear, slightly iridescent background was made by Robert Held in Canada. Artistically simple with minimal color palette, the vase is individually hand crafted, and therefore unique, as no two pieces in the series will be exactly the same. The vase is in good vintage condition with a few small surface scratches that do not detract from the overall beauty of the piece. It is signed with etched "R. Held Art Glass" at the base. Robert Held Art Glass is one of the best-known art glass studios in Canada. Held created Canada's first glassblowing program at the Sheridan College School of Design in 1969. He left his teaching career in 1977 for a management position at Canadian Art Glass in Calgary, Alberta, and two years later he formed his own company Skookum Art Glass Inc. The Skookum era ended in 1987 with creation of Robert Held Art Glass studio. Held's work is represented in private and public collections throughout Canada: The Roland Michener Collection, Massey Foundation, Indusmin Collection, The Museum of Montreal, and various private collections.
