Scandinavian Modern Ceramic Vase, by Tomas Anagrius for Alingsås Keramik
About the Item
Graphic Scandinavian modern ceramic vase by Tomas Anagrius for Alingsås Keramik.
This striking ceramic vase by Tomas Anagrius for Alingsås Keramik embodies the essence of Scandinavian Modern design with its stylish and graphic aesthetic. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the vase features a tactile texture that can be felt by the hand, adding a tactile dimension to its visual appeal.
The vase is finished with a matte brown glaze complemented by matte white glaze, creating a subtle contrast that enhances its modern allure. Notably, the embossed triangles on the surface are accentuated by a clever interplay of glazes: the upper part of each triangle boasts a glossy white glaze, while the lower part is adorned with matte brown glaze. This ingenious combination strengthens the three-dimensional effect of the triangles, adding depth and dynamism to the vase's design.
About the Designer:
Erik Tomas Anagrius, born on January 24, 1939, in St. Göran's parish in Stockholm, is a renowned Swedish ceramist. Anagrius studied at Konstfack from 1956 to 1961 before embarking on his career in ceramics. After gaining experience at esteemed porcelain factories such as Rörstrand and Gustavsberg, he established his own ceramics workshop in 1963 in Alingsås, later relocating it to Kvidinge in northwestern Scania in 1967. Anagrius specializes in crafting earthenware and stoneware objects, often employing free forms through turning and hand-building techniques.
Tomas Anagrius's work is celebrated and represented in numerous museums and collections, including the National Museum in Stockholm, the Röhs Museum, the Helsingborg Museum, Kulturen, the Halland Art Museum, the Nordic Museum, and the Höganäs Museum, as well as various county councils and municipalities.
