Snow Antique 19th C White Parian Ware Vase with Berries and Leaves

About the Item

Snowy White Parian Ware Vase decorated with berry clusters, leaves and arches with a ruffled neck. This is a breathtakingly lovely and feminine vase. Parian ware is a type of biscuit porcelain imitating marble. It was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons, and named after Paros, the Greek island renowned for its fine-textured, white Parian marble, used since antiquity for sculpture. The translucent quality of this Parian vase is a part of what makes it even more impressive than marble in which it imitates. I recommend placing it on a surface with good overhead light to show this beautiful translucency.
