Very Large 17th Century Ash Glaze Tamba Tsubo, Oversized (27 1/2" h) Edo period (17th century) tsubo, or storage jar, from the Tamba Kiln, one of the 6 ancient kilns of Japan. Beautful ash glaze with continuous drip glaze around the shoulder of the vessel. Beautiful signature on the shoulder, as shown in photograph. Signature partially obscured, but appears to read, "Chizuo." In excellent condition.
