About the Item
Antique Norwegian Wall Hanging Cabinet - 1827, Hand-Painted by Embrik Bæra
This exceptional primitive wall-hanging Cabinet / Cupboard / Sideboard hails from Hallingdal, Norway, and is a true museum-quality piece. Handcrafted from natural pine, it features exquisite hand-painted Rosemaling folk art by the renowned Norwegian artist Embrik Bæra (1788–1876), set against a classic farmhouse red base. Dated 1827, the cabinet bears the inscription "A-.S. D.L." on the front, adding to its historical charm.
Remarkably preserved for nearly 200 years, this antique cabinet retains its original key and lock, along with a beautiful rustic patina. The craftsmanship suggests it may have been made by Embrik Bæra’s father, Herbrand Sata (1753–1830), making it a rare and significant piece of Norwegian heritage.
Perfect for country, cabin, or farmhouse interiors, this cabinet is not only a functional storage piece but also a stunning work of art. Its timeless design and historical significance make it a captivating addition to any space.
