About the Item

The Raven collection 16th century Venetian doll We are proud to offer an amazing museum quality 16th century Venetian doll still in its original linen and silk clothing. A wonderfully hand carved bust with its original painted surface. A macabre effect has taken place visually over the face due to loss of paint as shown in the photos provided. The carved bust extends into the upper arms and middle torso of this rare artefact. The clothing is very fragile due to its age, the reverse shows most of this wear, this doll can still be hung against a wall our mounted to a stand as it still has a brass hook in place at the rear. Dimensions in inches: H 8” x W 4” x D 2” Origin: Italy Age:1820 Material: Wood and silk Condition: This item is completely solid in structure and form, aged patina with weathering has taken place across all its surfaces. The clothing is very fragile and has weathered away towards the back, its torn in sections and unstitched due to its age and use. The face has flaked paint which we feel gives this item its macabre look. Please review all the photos provided as part of this advert.
