Antique French Folk Art Fairground Pierrot Shooting Target Game by Saussine

About the Item

Antique Shooting Target, Antique Shooting Game, Fairground Antique, Funfair Antique, Circus Antique, Antique Pierrot, Carnival Antique, Folk Art Antique. Antique Folk Art Fairground Shooting Target Game with Carnival Pierrot theme. Rare French theatrical folk art style shooting game - Les Surprises De Pierrot (Pierrot’s Surprises). Circa 1910 - 1920. Very charming and beautiful vintage circus / carnival masquerade / folk art style antique game that displays very attractively as a wall hanging artwork. The Pierrot is depicted sitting at a table drinking Champagne, and in the window behind a black cat slides & changes to a Harlequin with a candle, and a Pigs head appears rising out of a pie. Printed artwork laid on 3-dimensional wooden boards & frame, with levered / sliding mechanisms to change the scenes and characters. The sliding mechanism’s still work, but some adjustments may make them smoother. Some wear to the printed paper, marks from the shooting impact, aging to colour, and small cracks to the wood, appropriate to the age. The game probably once had a back board covering, but the mechanisms are now interestingly exposed. Generally in solid condition and displays very attractively with a nice vintage colour. Has a bracket for wall mounting. W: 52 x H: 40 x D: 10 cm.

Antique Early Gambling Folk Art Gaming Device, Holtz
Located in Forney, TX
An exceptionally scarce antique American Folk Art gambling triple stacked wooden arrow spindle spinning wheel gaming device from the late 19th / early 20th century. Believed to be a prototype or for a similar lesser known model of the important, very rare and unusual T. F. HOLTZ made "Three Arrow Trade Stimulator" circa 1896, (displayed in the American Antique Museum, reference L2016.2501.010) Theodore Holtz of San Francisco and early slot machine pioneer Charles Fey's partner in 1894, forming their first partnership as Holtz and Fey Electric Works. For this particular game, upon depositing your nickel and pressing the lever, three arrows will spin on the front dial and if all three stop on the same marker you win.
