About the Item
A quite wonderful glazed ceramic candelabra/ vase/ sculpture by famed Danish-Scandinavian potter/artist Bjorn Wiinblad (1918-2006) who was universally known for his whimsical illustrations and ceramic designs often featuring his signature round-faced, smiling fantastical folkloric figures. This particular work is widely considered to be one of his most coveted pieces.
The piece, named V-14 or "Eva", is hand painted in blue and white and signed within the base. It is dated 1969 making it a very rare, early version of this work.
Wiinblad was awarded the American-Scandinavian Foundation’s Cultural Prize in 1995, with his works held in collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Copenhagen, and Stockholm's National Museum.
Would be a great addition to any collector's of Bjorn Wiinblad's work or Danish/Scandinavian pottery or make for a eye catching stand alone accent piece in about any setting.
