Blue Candelholder by Objekti

About the Item

Benjamin and Miriam, founders of Objekti, discovered the pines on a trip to Mexico and fell instantly in love with these unique and rare pieces. The pine, a symbol long associated with goodwill, is turned into masterpieces by some of Mexico's most celebrated artisans. These whimsical pieces created out of local clay elaborate details of incision, appliqué and openwork. The appliqué technique is necessary to attain realistic texturing. All of this requires exceptional mastery in clay sculpturing. After the item is sculpted, it is ready to be given a dose of colour. Glazes mixed with copper sulphate and other minerals induce together with multiple firings the brilliant shine to each piece. At the end of this process, the result is every time again a unique and simply astonishing piece of art that elevates its interior surroundings.
