Ceramic Bowl Model 20.717 Made In Oxblood Colored Glaze By Axel Salto

About the Item

Ceramic bowl, model 20.717, with oxblood colored glaze, designed by Axel Salto for Royal Copenhagen. The bowl is a classic example of Salto's experimental approach to ceramics, where he used many different glazes to create deep and rich tones. Axel Salto (1889-1961) is one of Denmark's most recognized ceramists and artists. He worked closely with Royal Copenhagen and created organic forms inspired by nature. His works are often characterized by his experiments with glazes and his use of nature-inspired forms such as spirals, knobs and ribs, making each piece unique. The oxblood colored glaze is part of his exploration of strong colors and surfaces, which have made his ceramics sought-after collectibles both in and outside of Denmark.
