About the Item
A Refined cylindrical ceramic jar with a narrow collar, crafted by Mado Jolain and produced for Benoît Guyot’s avant-garde boutique-gallery in Lyon during the early 1960s. Executed in a deep, nuanced black-brown glaze, the piece embodies the quiet strength and tactile modernism characteristic of Jolain’s work.
The jar retains its original label marked “Confiture”, adding a rare touch of provenance. Subtle surface variations and the earthy richness of the glaze enhance its sculptural presence. A minor glaze chip is noted on the underside (see photo), invisible when displayed.
