Eric James Mellon Studio Pottery Ash Glazed Vase with Nudes
About the Item
A stylish British studio pottery vase painted with nude figures by renowned potter Eric James Mellon (1925-2014) and dating from around 2000. The vase is of cylindrical shape and potted in porcelain with a slightly domed top with a narrow rounded opening. The vase is decorated in bean ash glazes and is hand painted in colours with a nude lady lying on a bed in front of a stained glass window with a further panel painted with the image of a nude in a mirror also in colours within a blue surround. The vase is also painted with an embracing nude couple to the base and is signed around the inside edge with the traditional fox mark.
Provenance: from a private West Country collection and acquired directly from the artist. Fresh to the market.
