The top is also in good condition with unpainted but glazed red ware inside. Information: A longtime member of the esteemed Association of Hungarian Folk Artists, master ceramicist Imre Szűcs resides in Tiszafüred, a picturesque, forested town in central Hungary. It is an area rich in natural resources, which Szűcs employs in his ornately decorated pottery. Clay is regionally sourced, and so is paint which is created from natural dyes culled from mineral-rich mountains surrounding the town. Examples of his work are on display at the International Museum of Folk Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico. When he first began making ceramics in the 1960s, Imre visited Hungarian museums to glean a sense of traditional colors and motifs; a soft, pale green typical of 18th century, for example, is frequently incorporated in his pottery, and black vases and vessels molded into the shapes of roosters, covered allover in multi-hued, immaculately applied designs, are standout items from the artist. Common decorative themes, oftentimes painted by Imre’s wife, include floral, animal, and vegetal elements, which became characteristic of these ceramics in the 19th century.

20th Century - Whimsical Pair of Large Carved and Painted Wood Flamingos
Located in Morristown, NJ
Late 20th c., a pair of vibrantly painted wooden flamingo floor sculptures, each with a fish in mouth. One is signed "MW" on the underside. Painted in pink and lilac respectively and both with painted details to resemble feathers. Each flamingo is holding a fish in its beak. Both fish have been painted in contrasting colors to those of the flamingos. The gold painted beaks and legs add an additional element of whimsy to these carved sculptures. They are life size and will be sure to draw attention and likely a smile. They would look great on the deck of a seaside home, as a welcoming pair by a front door, in a child's bedroom or even as a bathroom accent. Please Note: To reduce the cost of shipping, each will be professionally packed by a specialist service in advance of UPS shipping. This is significantly less expensive than white glove shipping. Dimensions: 46"h x 7"w x 10"d Condition: Good/Fair, one with repair to red feathers on top...

Mid 20th C. Kutani Style French Porcelain Lidded Ginger Jars - A Pair
By Porcelaine de Paris
Located in Morristown, NJ
20th c., a pair of Japanese Kutani style porcelain lidded jars, stamped on Porcelaine de Paris underside of foot. The mark indicates the piece was produced in the 1970's. The jars are decorated in deep orange, tangerine and gold motifs on a white background. On one side, both jars have matching decoration depicting a scroll showing a pastoral scene. On the other side, each jar has a seperate floral depiction; one including bamboo. Both are highly decorative. Founded 1773 by Jean-Baptiste Locre, Porcelaine de Paris, was one of the first manufactures to use the Chinese secret of porcelain. It immediately aimed for the luxury trade, selling to the Royal Courts of Europe. After surviving the French Revolution, Porcelaine de Paris steadily produced tableware as well as purely decorative pieces, receiving orders from all over Europe. Productivity was astonishing, creating one new model every day over 30 years! Around 1830, Jean-Marx Clauss, a German-born potter bought a building at Rue de la Pierre-Levee, where he took over Locre's activity. M. Achille Bloch...
