About the Item
19th Century Sailor's Woolie of a British Frigate Flying Red Ensign, circa 1850, a hand crafted sailor's woolwork picture of a British warship with single gun deck, under full sail with intricate and detailed rigging, flying ensign of the Red Fleet and a corresponding admiral's pennant, under a beautiful cloudy sky, on calm teal sea with simple, funny waves, mounted in its original bird's eye maple frame.
The woolie was made with a variety of accomplished short., long, curved and cross stitches, and remains in very fine condition with strong colors. The frame has the expected nicks and losses about the edges.
