Antique Wooden Sewing Box Tramp Art Folk Art Unique Piece 1928

About the Item

Antique sewing box, wooden tramp art box with green fabric parts and a pincushion at the top, unique handmade object, at the bottom a metal plate with the maker and date engraved, dated 1928. The key is included but is purely decorative. Beautiful form of folk art, anyone could make a tramp art object with what they had at hand, which is why it is very rare to find 2 identical pieces, these unique items therefore have a high collector's value and are highly sought after. Tramp art is a style of woodworking that emerged in America in the second half of the 19th century. Some of the defining characteristics of tramp art include chip or notch carving, reclaiming cheap or available wood such as that from cigar boxes and shipping crates, using simple tools such as pocket knives, and layering materials into geometric shapes through of glue or nails. This item is in good used condition, a small missing part on the side, small missing pieces of wood here and there, the lock no longer works but the item still looks fantastic, check the photos for more details!
