The cabinet is in original condition and has not been refinished, the decoration on the inside of the cabinet has sadly faded away over the years but you can still see the year the cabinet was made.

Cabinet is in good condition for a piece from the late 18th century, but the piece has signs of use like natural cracks in the wood and chips in the painted decoration, also the original lock for the cabinet is included but is not mounted.

The sarcophagus shaped lidded top enclosing a large storage area for clothing or bedding, the interior of the lid still possesses the original un-oxidized paint. Both the body and top of the chest retain the original hand painted decoration. The front, top and rear with oval cartouches painted with exotic birds and surrounded by stylized floral & fruiting decoration, each side has a circular cartouche with corresponding decoration. The sides of the chest have the original cast iron carrying handles, the chest is raised upon bracket feet, the chest is clean and aroma free and is ready to store your bedding, clothing or anything else you care to place in it!
