Large Vintage Balinese Painting on Silk from Ubud Bali 1960's
Located in North Hollywood, CA
Mid 20th Century Balinese Painting on silk fabric, Framed. Vintage large Balinese art painting, from Ubud, Bali acrylic on silk. Beautiful artwork by the Indonesian artist from Ubud. Painted in Peliatan, Ubud Bali by VJ. Kupur as signed on the bottom left hand corner. Balinese Folk Festival ceremonial procession, Ink and acrylic paint on canvas. Batuan painting evolved in the 1930s after a group of local villagers tested different forms with ink-washed paintings upon black backgrounds. These paintings often reveal Batuan’s cultural life, directly through their elements of line, shape, and tone. Meticulous design, craftsmanship, and strong visual impression are characteristic of the style. The painting comprise individual shapes which are painted in a precise and systematic manner that does not leave any empty space. The complexity of the paintings is inevitable as each of the strokes, lines, gradations, the characters or the subjects forms a delicate unity that finely balances the figure-filled canvas. Various gradations of colors separate different sections of the painting. The landscape is enticing and endless. About Bali Art...

Vintage Batik Fabric Painting Tribal Folk Wall Art
Located in Barrington, IL
Vintage Asian Batik hand painted fabric art. The beautiful batik is a collection of various scenes of human figures and animals set on a red fabric with designs in blue and black. The batik is a wonderful example of a hand painted wall art. Batik is one of many methodologies of fabric art in a long and rich folk textile tradition around the world. It is a wax-resist type of dyeing operation where certain sections of a textile are pigmented while others are tied-off and shielded from coloring. Batik designs are created in various geometric motifs that have certain symbolism and convey status within society, but now too they use batik methods to achieve what in essence are paintings on fabric. Indonesian Balinese Folk Art Dream Time Jungle Original Monochrome Painting
Located in Studio City, CA
A gorgeous and whimsical original Indonesian/Balinese monochrome black, grey, and white painting. The work features a beautiful scene of a woman being carried through the jungle by various wild and indigenous animals. This is either some grand funeral procession or, in our opinion, a nighttime dream time sequence as most of the animals look pleased to see and be with her. It is certainly a powerful and engaging image either way. This piece was likely created in Bali sometime in the 20th century. Would be a great addition to any Asian or Indonesian art...
