Vintage Old Sofreh Kilim Central Anatolian Sofra Rug Turkish Carpet

About the Item

This is a Sofreh—a type of kilim traditionally used for serving meals. Because of its intended purpose, it is woven using a particularly soft and loose flatweave, making it thinner and more flexible than typical kilims. Decorative elements such as Jijim embroidery add to its charm. This piece features an unusual weaving style where the vertical warp threads are visible on the surface, and it is constructed from two panels joined vertically at the center. Vivid stripes of indigo and red, along with bold fringes, give this kilim a striking look. Once used to brighten up a dining area, it can now be repurposed in a variety of decorative ways—draped over a table, placed on a sofa, or used to adorn a chest or bench. This Anatolian Sofreh Kilim is a beautiful piece steeped in history and culture, adding a special character to your interior space.
