About the Item

This is one of the more popular "crazy car" toys and was designed by the iconic New York City Louis Marx Toy Company, Circa 1935, with the fascination of the American West and the stereotypical "cowboy" in mind. Fabulous action portrays the cowboy riding the tractor like vehicle like he would a bucking bronco. Upon winding up the attached clockwork key on the underneath and placing on a level flat surface, preferably the floor, (not on a table top) the cowboy figure jumps forward and backwards while the vehicle pops up and down, back and forth, while turning and moving in reverse (see the attached video with the listing for the action). Other examples you see may say "missing hat" "doesn't work properly" etc., This toy has a lovely patina and is in great original condition with practically all of it's lithography and hand paint intact, in colors of orange, red, yellow, with white wheels and cow faces appearing on each wheel and "Whoopee Car" written in gold on the back "boot". with "Louis Marx & Co. N.Y." underneath. You don't have to make excuses for this example, with no need to upgrade as it is in the upper echelon of quality for this toy with no restorations or touch up paint of any kind in addition to the fact that it works wonderfully. Simply a wonderful piece for the discerning collector of antique American toys, folk art, or western United States memorabelia; or even as a stand alone item. Dimensions: 8" long x 6 1/4" high x 3" wide Provenance: From my own personal collection of toys Note: After 40 plus years of dealing and collecting toys, I am justly qualified to guarantee and present the authenticity of antique and vintage toys and children's playthings; important considering the fakes and reproductions in the marketplace. I thoroughly examen with a loop and a black light all of my toys that I offer for sale and I guarantee them to be as I have described. it would behoove an enterprising collector, dealer, or decorator to take advantage of the opportunity to buy as many of the vintage tin toys that I have listed for sale; it would create an immediate quality collection, as most of these toys came, either from a long time premium California collection or from my own shelves. It would take quite some time and effort to accumulate toys this clean, authentic, original, operable and in excellent condition.
