About the Item

By master artisans Sanjuana España Rodríguez and husband Guillermo Trejo Soriano (Guanajuato, México) have been known for hand crafting Mexican traditional toys. Sanjuana's late father was a master of this beautiful toy craft tradition, and taught his daughter and son in law his pursuit for toy-crafting. Known for their colorful ludic appearance, these interactive toys represent the Mexican culture and bring nostalgia of past childhoods. "Domador de Fieras" or "Beast Tamer" in English. This mechanic wooden toy demonstrates the interaction between the tamer in a circus and a fierce lion, who appears to eat the tamer's head during the show. A work of folk art expressing the mastery in the engineering of the piece, the ludic humor behind, and the esthetic work of paint and wood carving technique.
