Antique Woman’s Shoulder Cloth (Mantita) or Head Covering (Phullo), Bolivia This finely woven minimalist mantle or head covering is composed of two panels with a cochineal-dyed monochromatic field. The Aymara were master dyers, producing here a luminous warp-faced purple field beautifully accented by the underlying red cochineal weft threads.
