Songye Female Wood Figure with horn and brass hair ex Sothebys

About the Item

Carved wood standing female figure with projecting stomach, attached horn on top of head, and hair in form of small hand shaped copper pieces. Old glass beads around arm and neck. It is in good condition wear and erosion from traditional use, appropriate for its age, use, and medium. Scuffs and nicks here and there. Horn and some of the hair pieces professionally replaced by previous owner using a specialty restorer. Mounted on heavy circular metal base.
