19th Century Chandelier 18 Armed Carved Wood Probably Laves Draft Oil Gilding

About the Item

The chandelier is out of the castle Derneburg in Germany and probably a draft by the famous German architect, urban planner and civil engineer, Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves who lived and worked in Hanover. As the leading architect of the Kingdom of Hanover, he significantly influenced the urban development of Hanover. He worked in the reconstruction of Castle Derneburg from 1827 for Count Ernst zu Münster in Derneburg. The chandelier is out of carved wood and poured mass which is both oil gilded. There are 6 inner and 12 outer arms.
