About the Item

This chandelier is just extraordinary. It is not a Classic chandelier or a usual vintage chandelier. This Sputnik is a magnificent creation that conquers us with its extravagance. It is a revisited vintage chandelier, where the elements are not Classic discs. They have inside them bubbles, the shape sometimes folded, and a magnificent white border that marks the end of the element. We are also amazed at the transparency of the elements which perfectly integrates with the brass frame. The structure of the chandelier is formed by a small central sphere that acts as a center for 56 branches, to which 56 glass disks are attached. It reaches a diameter of 60 cm. Once turned on, the chandelier is spectacular especially for the 6 bulbs inside which, thanks to the glass and the color of the brass, manage to create magnificent plays of light. Designed in 1990 by Alberto Donà. Chandelier can be re wired for your country code. Replacement included. The price of the item includes professional and tailored packing. Alberto Dona’ Alberto Dona’ was born in Italy in 1944. He began working in the glass field at age 13. He worked with many masters and had opportunity to travel abroad to Venezuela to work with glass. His foremost influence was the maestro “Nane” Ferro, who was known in Murano during the 1960s as one of the best masters. In the early 1970s, Dona opened his own furnace. He became known for his skill with colors and his ability to invent unique color combinations. Most characteristic, however, is the large size that Dona is able to achieve with his shapes. These qualities have attracted companies from Venini to Reflex to Saporiti, who have depended on Dona for glass accessories. By the end of the 1980s Dona’s talent also attracted many artists with whom the collaborated. Dona’s glass vessels have been included in various group shows. In October 2001 he had a one-man show at the Vassel Art Gallery in London. Also he was selected to furnish the lighting for the Hiroshima Memorial Museum.

Amazing Mid Century White and Crystal "Tessuto" Murano Glass Chandelier. This wonderful object was produced in Italy in the 70s by Venini. Woven Glass created by Carlo Scarpa for Venini in the 1930s; similar to filigree but obtained using very thin reeds joined with alternating colors and flattened to form strips similar to fabric ribbons, joined and manipulated to obtain the desired design. This is an exceptionally beautiful chandelier due to the state of the piece, the size of the light but above all the subtlety of the Tessuto Murano Glass. A stunning piece of lighting with infinite elegance that will complement an art deco or mid-century living room or entryway perfectly. The Chandelier uses a single E26/27 light bulb. Scarpa was born in Venice. Much of his early childhood was spent in Vicenza, where his family moved when he was 2 years old. After his mother's death at the age of 13, he moved with his father and brother to Venice. Carlo attended the Academy of Fine Arts where he concentrated on architectural studies. Graduated from the Academy of Venice, with the title of Professor of Architecture, he was apprenticed to the architect Francesco Rinaldo.
