Antique Gilt Bronze and Opaline Glass Chandelier

About the Item

This beautiful, tall chandelier is ideal for a grand entrance hall or room where it can be seen and admired. It is an exceptional piece of Empire style design, perfectly combining glass and gilt bronze, with a sumptuous simplicity and elegance. The chandelier consists of a wide central bowl with eight individual lights, attached to a long central stem. The central bowl is made from glass and mounted at its top and bottom with gilt bronze coverings, to which the eight scrolling branches are attached. Each branch terminates with a flower-bud form light fitting and a circular drip pan, and is also attached to a chain of gilt bronze plaques inlaid with glass ovals, giving the entire piece a sense of being bejewelled. The chains run the entire length of the chandelier, and attach to the crown finial at the top, below the ceilling fitment.
