About the Item
A modernist chandelier produced by the Swedish lighting manufacturer ASEA Belysning in the 1950s. Crafted from solid oak and brass, it features three curved arms holding white glass lampshades and includes its original dome-shaped ceiling canopy. The stem is adorned with a beautifully wave-shaped ornament.
ASEA, the Swedish electrical company, was established as early as 1883, specializing in the production of electrical lights and generators. By the late 1940s, ASEA had acquired several rival companies, solidifying its position as one of Sweden's premier manufacturers of light fixtures. ASEA's Stockholm drawing office was responsible for the development of numerous modernistic lamps, designed for both public spaces and domestic applications. The company collaborated with several renowned designers, including Hans Bergström and Uno Kristiansson, over the years.
