About the Item

A 5 arm modernist pendant by Voss of Fredericia from the 1930s. Beautifully designed and made in brass with glass shades. This pendant has no serious issues but of course it has age related wear and patina which simply just adds to its beauty. All the wiring has been renewed and the pendant has been grounded. Responsible worldwide shipping available. Voss was founded on 6 November 1878 by Colonel Ernst von Voss. The company began as a small workshop with 2-3 men and employed 440 people at the end of 1949. On 6 January 1897, the company was transformed into a limited company, and the founder's one son, Ditlev von Voss (1858-1930), became managing director, while the other son, Gustav von Voss (1866-1929), acted as technical manager of the company. In the years around the turn of the century, the two brothers built up a significant export to the Scandinavian countries, Russia, and even such distant countries as South Africa and Mexico. Expansions of the factory and improvements took place continuously, especially after a big fire in the year 1931, and in the year 1950 the factory covered an area of 16,994 m2. The factory had a trial warehouse in Copenhagen (Jernbanegade 4), to which 18 white-collar workers were attached. In 1950, 160 of the factory's workers and clerks could celebrate the 25th anniversary of their employment at the factory. The factory was expanded again in 1961. The manufacturing program included electrical lighting items: chandeliers, pendants, lamps, sconces, tilt lamps etc; gas items: gas washing boilers, gas stoves, ovens, appliances etc; household items in cast iron, aluminum and stainless steel: pots with lids, saucepans, pans etc, special cookware for electric kitchens, sanitary ware in stainless steel, commercial castings, customer castings; building materials: door handles, stainless steel castings and various special goods.

A Mid Century 18 Arm Tulip Pendant Chandelier By Fog and Mørup Of Denmark
By Fog & Mørup
Located in Søborg, DK
A very elegant and classic 18 arm tulip pendant chandelier by Fog and Mørup of Denmark Hand blown white opaline glass shades. E14 bulb holders A lovely age related wear and patina to the surfaces. The hand blown glass shades are in great condition with no cracks. Rewired and grounded. Glass shades will be removed for shipping. Responsible worldwide shipping available. The company was founded on 1 June 1904 by ironmonger Ansgar Fog (1880-1930) as a trading company in Aarhus. The following year, wholesaler Erik Mørup (1879-1972) was admitted as a partner. In 1906 it moved to Copenhagen. In 1915, the company was expanded with a factory for lamps and chandeliers, and in 1948 it was transformed into a limited company. At the same time, Mørup became chairman of the board and Alfred Emanuel Gillesberg (1895-1959) managing director. In 1956, Fog & Mørup moved to a new factory at Sydmarken 46 in Søborg designed by Preben Hansen. Fog & Mørup is probably best known for the Kongelyslampen, which got its name when Fog & Mørup presented the lamp to King Christian X on his 25th anniversary in 1937. The table lamp was made of bronzed brass and cost DKK 35.50. Fog & Mørup had great success with the sale of this model. Fog & Mørup's heyday was the 1960s and 1970s, when Jo Hammerborg and other designers created a large number of both original and salable models of lamps. In 1978, Fog & Mørup was acquired by competitor LYFA. Fog & Mørup's production was moved from Sydmarken in Søborg to LYFA in Måløv for better utilization of the production capacity. In 1988, LYFA took over the lighting company ABO in Assentoft near Randers, which was particularly known for magnetic ball lamps produced in the 1970s. Only one year later, in 1989, LYFA was taken over by the listed company Lyskær Belysning A/S. The company's new name became Lyskær-Lyfa A/S in October 1989, but already in 1991 the company was bought by Horn Belysning...
