About the Item
A superb darkroom lamp from a photographic studio.
The lamp is also referred to as a ‘safelight’ as it provides illumination in the development of light-sensitive photographic images. Often dark red lighting is used in such studios as it emits low light energy that is unable to process the photographic film.
The lamp has a blown glass shade that drops loosely into a brass coloured aluminum holder. The holder is shut simply with a clasp keeping the shade closed whilst suspended with a brass bulb holder on a vintage-style woven cord. English, circa 1930.
