Impressive thick Art glass pendant light with leaf sculptures in relief.
This great early 20th-century pendant is a fine example of craftsmanship from a bygone era, when lighting was not only functional but also an Art form. The large, hand-blown glass shade features richly engraved, stylised foliage in warm amber and russet tones, framed by delicate swirling lines that evoke the graceful curves of nature.
The leaf motifs, reminiscent of ivy or vine leaves, are beautifully stylised in the Art Nouveau manner, organic yet symmetrical, decorative yet serene. The subtle variations in colour and the softly etched surface give the shade a warm, diffused glow when lit, instantly transforming the atmosphere of any space.
Supported by a solid brass stem and fittings, this three-light fixture is both sturdy and refined. Its generous proportions make it an ideal centrepiece for a dining room, entrance hall, or living space where its craftsmanship can be appreciated up close.
