Flavio Poli for Seguso thick Murano glass and brass chandelier 1950s

About the Item

This Murano glass and brass chandelier was designed by Flavio Poli for Seguso in the 1950s. Featuring three conical luminaires, it beautifully showcases the Sommerso glass technique, where layers of different materials overlap, creating a variety of textures and reflections. The Murano glass, with its delicate light blue hue and central relief, enhances the diffusion of light emitted by the bulbs. This chandelier is a testament to the work of Flavio Poli, one of greatest Italian glass artists of the XXth Century. Fully cleaned, and restored, electrified, this chandelier is found in a very good condition, and really embodies the timeless elegance of Italian craftsmanship. Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was an Italian glass artist celebrated for his pioneering work with the renowned glassmaker Seguso, as its artistic director from 1937 to 1963. His mastery of the Sommerso technique earned him widespread acclaim. Poli's most famous pieces include the vibrant Sommerso vessels, characterized by their bold colors and organic shapes, which became iconic symbols of mid-century Murano glass design.
