About the Item

An elegant and most decorative French 19th century Louis XV st. Gilt Metal and cut Glass chandelier. This exquisite and large scaled eight arm chandelier is centered by a berried Glass bottom finial which hangs below the base of the cage. The cage is composed of Gilt Metal scrolling bands that are tastefully decorated with beaded Glass garlands which follow the movements of each Gilt Metal arm. Inside the base of the cage is a centrally placed Glass cut dagger surrounded by a spray of beaded Glass bands with tear drop cut Glass pendants. The eight most decorative 'S' scrolled arms are decorated with beaded Glass garlands following the movements of the arms, as well as being accented with tear drop Glass pendants. The narrow neck above introduces a smaller open crown above with a central tear drop pendant. The outside with the crown is decorated by rosette cut ornaments with additional tear drop pendants below. The top crown showcases an additional Glass beaded spray with Glass rosettes at each end along with round glass ornaments hanging below. *Shades, Canopies and Chain shown for display purposes, sold separately.
