French Art Deco original frosted 6 panel art glass chandelier Signed Degué

About the Item

Large French Art Deco chandelier, with six frosted art glass panels and a matching round center coupe in clear frosted molded glass. The hand wrought iron armature with beautiful martele hammering in a pewter/ nickel tone features a six bar stem design ending in a double stepped hexagonal canopy with scroll detail and a decorative surround having open scrollwork details . The patterns on the glass fixture feature an intricate stylized floral motif adding a touch of elegance to its design. The shades bear the signature of the French glassmaker, Degué, adding to its authenticity. The exquisite glassware feature some subtle variation in shading between the panels, a unique characteristic resulting from the traditional lead content and artisanal techniques used during the 1920s. Each chandelier is truly one-of-a-kind, making it a beautiful and distinctive addition to any collection. Degué, founded by David Guéron (1892–1950) in Paris during the 1920s, was renowned for producing high-quality Art Deco glassware. The company quickly earned acclaim for its elegant and meticulously crafted pieces, including vases, bowls, lamps, and chandeliers, all distinguished by bold geometric patterns, stylized floral motifs, and vibrant colors that are hallmarks of the Art Deco movement. Degué was especially known for innovative techniques like molded glass, where intricate patterns and textures were formed directly in the glass during production, resulting in visually striking and unique pieces. The brand’s work became highly sought after by collectors and interior designers, both in France and internationally, and remains prized today for its beauty, craftsmanship, and historical significance.
