French Early 19th Century Empire Style Ormolu and Baccarat Crystal Chandelier
About the Item
A stunning and extremely high quality French early 19th century 1st Empire period ormolu and Baccarat crystal chandelier, circa 1805. The eight arm chandelier is centered by a striking and most decorative Baccarat crystal bowl with a fine topie shaped finial and striking thick diamond cuts. At the center is a wrap around ormolu band with charming flowers and rosettes from where the arms branch out. Each scrolled arm displays a unique and intricately detailed open winged swan leading to floral bobeches and elegant baluster shaped candle cups. Four decorative ormolu links with fitted crystal centers lead upwards to the majestic top crown which displays impressive and most decorative pierced palmettes and foliate sprays. The impressive top crown is decorated with pierced plumes and acanthus leaves with inverted rosette. All original gilt throughout.
