French Neoclassical Style Gilt Bronze and Ruby Glass Chandelier

About the Item

This is a really unusual chandelier, even the chains are set with faceted crystals. They support a gilt bronze circular band crisply pierced with masks and acanthus and with six candle holders and six crystal spires. Suspended below are a mass of delicate pendant drops in a crisscross pattern. The central stem is clad with a ruby glass gourd-shaped sleeve. The overall sense of this fixture is lapidary, fine, precise. Although not large, it has a really striking presence. Unusually it has a gilt crown set with a ruby panel.
