Italian 18th Century Baroque Period Giltwood and Glass Lantern
About the Item
A striking and most unique Italian 18th century Baroque period giltwood and glass lantern. The lantern is centered by a bottom foliate finial with a wrap around twisted design. Above an acanthus leaf border is a charming cherub's head amidst rich scrolled foliate patterns and designs. The striking and richly carved movements frame the three impressive original glass panes with convex circular patterns framed within metal borders of which one side open as a door. Above is a carved seashell reserve and the original hook.
