Italian 18th Century Polychrome and Mecca Venetian Lantern

About the Item

A charming Italian 18th century polychrome and mecca Venetian lantern. The lantern has a finely carved Mecca finial at the bottom hanging below foliate designs. The hexagonal body displays open sides housing one light bulb with a carved foliate border. Above are pierced circles, originally to let out the heat of the lit candle. All below the carved foliate top crown. All original Mecca and interior patina. Displayed with a decorative tassel. The lantern alone measures 41".
