About the Item
An exquisite and very unique Italian 18th century Venetian st. mecca, gilt metal, and wrought iron lantern. The lantern is centered by a charming richly carved floral finial below the impressive and most decorative pierced body with stunning scrolled foliate designs. Superb scrolled wrought iron supports lead up each side adorned with beautiful gilt metal leaves centering the pierced removable top with an exceptional lattice design. The supports lead up to the elegant mecca top crown with a fine smooth cabochon wrap around band. The interior retains its original red lacquered finish adding a wonderful warmth and depth. All original mecca and patina throughout.
