The Barrel Table Lamp has been specially created for those who want to incorporate lighting with eye catching works of art. Guaranteed to add texture, interest and colour to your special space - be it bedside table lamps or living room.
Each clay bead is hand rolled, kiln fired, then dip dyed before being individually strung onto a wrought iron frame and available in a range of colours, including our signature ombre.

Introducing klaylife – clay beaded lighting and jewellery, proudly hand crafted by the women of South Africa. Unlike so many products that come off the factory line, ours have a human story. They’re lovingly created by a community of women in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa*. Drawing on African heritage and craftsmanship, each clay bead is hand rolled using raw clay. They are then sun dried, kiln fired and dip-dyed and in the case of our lights, masterfully strung onto its unique iron frame. This hand made process ensures that no two pieces will ever be the same. Initially, our clay beaded pieces were crafted by local women whose lives had been impacted by HIV and so desperately needed an income to support their families. Over time, as popularity grew, more and more women with differing circumstances approached us for work. As a result the criteria has been broadened to any local woman who is prepared to put in the effort to create something special. In 2012, 8 ladies were permanently employed. There are now over 65 dedicated women rolling beads and creating their own masterpiece. More importantly, they’re making a difference to their local community. Today our contemporary chandeliers can be found lighting up some of the most gorgeous homes, hotels, restaurants and reception centres around the world. klaylife is run by a South African family now based in Melbourne, Australia. Created exclusively for Side Gallery, during the existence of the COVID 19, Willem desired to design something new, something physical, far away from our intense digital backdrop of the previous twelve months. His process began with an experimentation of Industrial epoxy clay, using the same spontaneous architectural techniques as his vases, he began applying multiple layers of differing shades of clay. Initially the layering of clay was just for strength, but the process became aesthetic. Once the clay dried, Van Hooff began sanding the clay, when a pattern began to form, an uncontrolled organic print casing the surface of the lamps as the layers of clay began to reveal themselves, creating a naturally textured design.
Willem van Hooff (b. 1992,Holland) sees himself as a 2021 variant of the former craftsman. After graduating from the Design Academy in Eindhoven in 2018, he began to run his own design studio continuing to live and work in Eindhoven. Working with his hands, or by means of Primitive techniques his style is raw. Often revisiting old or existing products, machines and techniques with a naive perspective, he rescues the past, creating new and exciting applications giving the materials or processes a new future.
